‘Rasteau’ is an attractive and cosy small narrowboat with classic Colecraft lines. The hull was built at 10mm bottom and 8mm sides: a recent hull condition survey (August 2019) found the hull to be in good order and requiring no remedial work. The boat was blacked in August 2019 and the sacrificial anodes were replaced. The engine is a BMC which is entirely reliable. The gearbox was replaced in 2014. The 12v electrics (lights, water pump, bilge pump, shower pump etc) all work well, and there are also points for 240v with a caravan-style 240v exterior plug at the stern. The gas cooker (hob + grill + oven) was new in 2013. Water is heated by a calorifier and the hot water tank holds enough for two showers with some left over. There is a small Hobbit wood burning stove at the front of the boat which was new in 2013.
The boat is light inside and well-insulated. The bathroom is spacious and has a shower, vanity unit with washbasin, and a portapotti style toilet. Forward of here is an open plan space with kitchen and lounge/sleeping area. Currently we have sofabeds here which we convert into beds. In the bow there is a seating area with a folding table and storage under the seats.
The boat is currently on a Canal and River Trust mooring in Oxford. It has a Boat Safety Scheme certificate (BSS) valid until July 2023.
