Description

The character “Musetta” in Puccini’s opera “La Boheme” boasts of her good looks which draw attention wherever she goes. This is certainly true of the beautiful, traditional craft-painted narrowboat that bears her name.

Built to a reverse layout by Norton Canes on a hull by Tyler Wilson, with a Beta 43hp engine and both bow and stern thrusters, Musetta is easily manoeuvrable in almost any circumstances. Just under two years old and little used she has a number of outstanding features, some of which were only recently fitted. Her owners sought to create a high spec second home cruiser and are only selling due to unexpected disability.

The cratch has a hand painted drop down table, with seating on large lockers each side.

The luxurious cross-bed has a new, handmade mattress by Edwardian Bedding, with bedside lockers and twin wardrobes providing ample storage for clothes.

The shower room includes a granite worktop and an electronic toilet with holding tank. The tap and shower unit are by the German manufacturer Grohe.

The saloon has two new leather reclining seats with footstools, and the smart tv has a sound bar. A MaxView 5G Roam Wi-Fi system was fitted in November 2024.There are two chairs and a four seater dining table (extendable for six) – and two occasional tables convert to additional dining stools by swapping their wooden surfaces for cushioned tops. These tables also serve as storage for kindling and paper for the Squirrel woodburning stove which supplements the central heating radiators when required.

The high spec galley has granite worktops, a gas hob and a little used eye level oven and grill. Storage is in large and deep pull-out drawers for ease of access and there is a full height pull-out larder as well as pull-out waste bins. There is an integrated refrigerator and behind one of the drawer units is plumbing for a washing machine, should this be required. The professional mixer tap is by Grohe. A wine rack is mounted on the rear bulkhead and there is a white wine “cellar” built into the floor.

There is significant storage space beneath the access steps both fore and aft, whilst there are large cupboards either side of the rear steps.

Outside, the stern is a unique design combination of a semi-trad and cruiser, providing ample social space as well as seats whilst cruising. The starboard stern locker contains the gas cylinders, whilst the port locker holds mooring equipment as well as an easy access greaser.
