71ft traditional narrowboat Zeus. Comfortable liveaboard with ample of space and powered by a traditional Lister JP3. Built in 1991 by John Pinder, Zeus is a solid well built boat, last docked and surveyed in 2021 with a clean bill of health.

“Zeus” is a spacious, well equipped and comfortable boat ideal as a liveaboard. Time and attention has been paid to onboard systems and layout to provide a trouble-free life afloat.

Main living area – dining table with bench seating either side with storage below, 3-seater sofa, shelving with 12volt power supply and aerial socket for TV, digital radio with CD and speakers, twin 240A socket with USB points.
Becton Bunny 5Kw solid fuel stove in tiled hearth, twin skin stainless flue. Back boiler supplying radiator in bedroom.

Walk-through kitchen – Bespoke pine units and drawers, Belfast sink with mixer tap, water filter tap and ceramic drainer, beech worktops, inset 3 burner Thetford hob, built in eye level Vanette oven and grill, space below with drain outlet and plumbing for small washing machine, 12V fridge with ice compartment. Side hatch.

Walk-through bathroom - 4’ bath with bath/shower mixer tap, basin with mixer tap, Thetford 165 Portapotti, shelving and small cupboards for storage. Radiator from Eberspaecher.

Bedroom - two fitted single wardrobes with drawers underneath, fixed standard double bed with storage space below (55l Surecal calorifier heated by 1Kw emersion, coil from Eberspaecher and coil from engine). Radiator to one side fed by Eberspaecher, second radiator on opposite side heated by back boiler on stove.

Traditional style back cabin - with bench seat, storage cupboards, drop-down table, refurbished Premier back cabin stove (recent new stainless flue and fireproof surround). Traditional engine controls.

Construction

Built in 1991 by Pinders as a 70ft traditional narrowboat. Steelwork undertaken in 2011 including complete refooting now make Zeus a stable and desirable boat.

The hull has been grit blasted and two-packed 2013, with two-pack epoxy reapplied on last two dockings, most recently 2021. Hull survey completed 2021 available for review.

Engine(s)

Engine room houses the lovely 1944 Lister JP3 with Parsons gearbox which starts and runs beautifully.

The domestic battery bank houses 4 Trojan T105 deep cycle batteries and a starter battery. A 90amp alternator with Sterling charge controller, Victron Combi inverter/charger 60/1600, shore lead socket and consumer unit with galvanic isolator provide the electrical systems in Zeus.

The Lister JP3 is in good order and well maintained. Twin underfloor diesel tanks approx. 400l combined. Two side hatches and pigeon box.
