| Reference: | 2189 Whirlwind |
Whirlwind is a charming 48’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 2006 by Peter Nicholls. She benefits from 2pk epoxy blacking in September 2024, and an engine service at the same time with a new alternator belt fitted too.
She is sprayfoam insulated, and fitted out in oak faced ply with oak trim throughout, and a mix of wood, tiles and carpet flooring.
The open well deck is 4’1”, with space for a couple of folding chairs to enjoy the outdoors whilst cruising. The stainless steel 580L fresh water tank is housed below.
Stepping into the 10’7” forward cabin, this is set out like a traditional boatmans cabin, with an Arada Axi Series 3 solid fuel stove, comfortable arm chair, fixed bench seat (with folding down spare double berth section), a drop down table, and a 19” TV.
Double doors lead into the 5’10” galley, with laminate worktops, stainless steel sink, 12v Shoreline fridge, Smev oven & grill, separate 4 burner gas hob, and a Candy Aquamatic washing machine. There are also plenty of low level cupboards, and a slim full height cupboard too.
The 4’10” off-corridor bathroom follows, featuring a bath with a shower over, Thetford cassette toilet with a spare cassette, and a ceramic wash basin. A starboard side hatch in the corridor brings in additional light and fresh air.
Next is the 6’3” bedroom, with a 6’3” x 4’0” fixed double berth, with storage under and cupboards over.
The stern cabin houses a single wardrobe, a fixed bench seat (which can be used as a single berth), and more storage. The Beta 35hp 4 cylinder engine is housed beneath the aft steps, which lead out onto the 4’2” stern deck.
She is centrally heated by a Webasto Thermo Top C diesel fired boiler connected to 4 radiators, and hot water is heated by the engine or the Webasto.
12v power is supplied by 4x 105ah domestics (new September 2024) with a separate starter. 240v power is via a Victron Multiplus Compact 1600w inverter/charger, or landline hookup.
Lighting on board is LED throughout.
She would be ideal for weekends away, and with her current set up she could even make a lovely liveaboard home.
