Little Jen is a lovely and unique narrowboat that boasts huge amounts of space and character. She was our comfortable live-aboard home for 5 years and we are sad to sell but know she’ll make a wonderful home for someone else. With spacious kitchen, living and bedroom areas, she really feels like a generous and welcoming home. There is lots of adaptable interior space and she sits on an idyllic private island mooring.

Mooring:
There is the option of a private mooring on an idyllic island location with shared gardens and adjacent shed (subject to agreement and rent with Landlord). The mooring is located on the river Stort, a short 10 minute walk from Bishop’s Stortford train station, with direct train lines to London and Cambridge in under 40 minutes.

Layout:
Living room > kitchen > bathroom > office / spare bedroom > main bedroom > engine room.
The amount of living space in Little Jen is very generous and easily adaptable to meet your needs with lots of storage space and slightly wider than a traditional narrow boat at 6’ 3”. Cruising the cut with Little Jen is a delight, she has nice wide gunnels and top rails which are easy to grip and easy to tie off on which means you can move about with ease and helps to navigate locks safely.

Living / Dining Area:
The spacious living room at the front of the boat is light and airy with varnished plywood and farrow and ball painted interior, glazed doors and oak flooring throughout. There is lots of storage with integrated shelves under the gunnels and two corner cupboards. The stove is a reliable Aarrow multi-fuel stove, with a back boiler. There is a coal store under the step that neatly holds a bag of coal which is very convenient in winter. The living space is generous with well designed storage and room for a sofa, dining table and chairs. LED lighting fitted throughout.

Kitchen:
The kitchen is stunning with large oak worktops and heaps of storage cupboards underneath. We love this kitchen, with so much counter top space and huge cupboards, this kitchen is larger than the one we had in our flat in London. There is a round stainless steel sink with a separate draining board with oak wooden covers. There is a full size gas oven, four gas rings and separate grill. There is a standard size 3 way fridge with freezer compartment running on 12volt, 240 or gas. Hot water is supplied by a Rinnai instant gas water heater which gives immediate hot water. There is no need to wait for a calorifier, store hot water or run the engine for showers and washing up. The side hatch is located in the kitchen, with lovely, traditional narrowboat roses and castles painted scenes.

Bathroom:
The fully tiled bathroom is a good size, with a pump out toilet that has a large tank. There is a bath with overhead shower, sink, under sink storage cupboard and shelving. The shower has fantastic heat and pressure suppled by a Shurflo pump and it's great to have the luxurious option of a nice soak in the tub.

Bedroom:
The Bedroom is huge by narrowboat standards, the raised double bed has ample under bed storage, there is a fitted wardrobe, 3 good sized cupboards and plenty of shelving throughout. The adjoining area can be used as a dressing room with a full size double wardrobe or could be set up for a home office or second bedroom.

Engine Room:
The heart of Little Jen is a very strong and reliable Lister Petter 'Canal Star' 4 cylinder 45HP water cooled engine. We had the engine fully reconditioned by DW mechanical in 2014. She starts every time, runs smoothly and has low running hours. Single lever control for the engine located on the dash which contains the RPM gauge, warning light, pressure gauge, ignition and engine cut off. Engine bay is covered in ply and open on the side for air flow to the engine, there is also good working access to the weed hatch.
