I am both sad and happy to be selling Carcassone as I’m Buying my first flat.
Carcassone is a 50’ long 10’6” wide canal boat built by Napton in 2007. She is built to the french style and is a really unusual boat (only 2 were built, the other is moored in Dublin. I bumped into it when i was visiting last year and my jaw hit the floor)
Carcassone is a lovely size, allowing for spacious living while also making it easy to find moorings. Something that can be a bit of a task on the london network.
She boasts a huge top deck which is suitable for gatherings and bbq’s which is really rare on canal boats and makes her the envy of the london canals. You drive with a wheel (Hydraulic steering) seated on top of the boat (Fly Bridge) which makes for really comfortable cruising and if you have friends over for the move then you can all sit together as you go which is really fun.
The boat has a BARRUS SHIRE diesel engine which has never let me down. It’s an absolute dream. I replaced the starter motor last summer as I could hear that it was coming to the end of its life and it has just had a service (oil change and replacement oil and diesel filters)
Currently getting its boat safety certificate
The kitchen/living room has a 12v fridge, a 2 door gas oven/grill/hob and a huge multi fuel stove that can be enjoyed from both he kitchen and the living room as it has a door on both sides. It has an amazing draw, loves to catch and throws out some serious heat.
Next is the bathroom with a shower, 3/4 size bathtub and 2 options for toilet, both electric and cassette.
At the front of the boat is the bedroom with a double bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe and twin tub washing machine. There is ample space under the worktop in the kitchen for a domestic washing machine should you wish to install one but I opted for the twin tub as it saves energy and water.
There a 5 radiators down the side of the boat and a heater towel rail in the bathroom. These are served by a WEBASTO diesel heater which is incredibly efficient. The running water can be heated in 2 ways: By running the engine or via the diesel heater.
There is a 500 litre internal water tank and 2 stainless steel external tanks for gravity fed filling of the internal tank. Making up a huge supply of about 1300 litres of water which means I often go over a month without needing to fill up at water points.
On the roof and at the back of the boat there are lockers for storage and there is locker space set up for the use of 4 gas bottles at any one time which means I’ve never had to worry about running out of gas.
There is a bank of RENOGY lithium smart batteries which are less than 3 years into their 10 year lifespan. I have been happy with a 200AH bank as you can run lithium batteries much lower than you can with lead. But you could add more to the bank of you wish . These are charged by running the engine and are automatically trickle fed by the RENOGY solar panel. The solar panel is fantastic in the summer. I had always meant to add another for the winter months but never got round to it. Id probably recommend this although running the engine to charge is fine.
Booked in for blacking the first week of December in Uxbridge. If you wish to get a survey done without the cost of craning, this would be the perfect time.
Ive had the most amazing 3 years living on this boat and I’m looking forward to meeting the person who is going to love it next.
Serious offers will be considered.
All the best and happy boat hunting
