Maisie Ellen is a sweet 46’ cruiser stern narrowboat built in 1989 by Fernie Narrowboats. She is fitted out in painted ply with solid wood trim, with vinyl and carpet flooring.
She had a hull survey carried out in March 2024, and was also blacked at the same time. There are 4 anodes fitted which were deemed satisfactory at blacking.
A step leads down, from the 3’2” well deck, through glazed forward doors and bulkhead, into the generous 9’10” saloon. This features a sofa bed, which converts to a spare double berth, Arrow Becton solid fuel stove, a 21.5” Sniper 12v TV with a moonraker aerial, and a shelf along the starboard side. There is storage under the forward step, a side table for your morning coffee, and plenty of space for additional freestanding furniture.
The 5’5” U-shaped galley is next. Here is a British Mode 12v fridge with icebox, a Plastimo oven and 2 burner gas hob, a stainless steel sink, and cupboards, drawers and shelves for storage.
Next we have an 8’0” corridor space with a pew style bench seat and extra storage within. A hanging rail storage area has been created by the removal of a gas boiler with the pipework in place to reinstate. To the starboard side, the bathroom is split in two with the Thetford cassette toilet in the first 3’0” section and the shower in the second 4’0” space, along with a ceramic wash basin.
Next is the 7’0” bedroom, with two bench seats creating 6’3” x 4’0” double berth, which extends out across the full width of the boat. There are cupboards/wardrobes at end of the bed on both sides, and a large amount of storage under each bench seat.
Steps lead out onto the cruiser stern deck (7’6”), with the Barrus Shire engine housed below. She was also serviced in April 2025. The cruiser deck features an almost new pram cover (2024) and two seats for perching on while cruising.
12v power is provided by 3x 110ah domestics, with a separate 110ah starter (all new in 2024). 240v power is via a 1200w Victron Multiplus inverter/charger, or landline. Power is topped up by the 150w solar panel connected through a Victron Smart MPPT solar controller.
A mini electric heater runs off of shoreline power, and hot water is provided by the engine and immersion.
She’s a really sweet boat, and could make a comfortable floating home.
