Thistle-Do is a lovely 60’ semi traditional style narrowboat built in 2006 by Alkan Engineering and fitted out by Stone Marine. She has lots of space and storage and would make an ideal live-a-board. She has been blacked twice in the last year (most recently August 2020) and the Beta 43 engine was new in 2011. She is fitted out in oak faced ply with sapele trim throughout.
The saloon is entered via the well deck and is huge at over 16 foot in length. Currently this houses a bench seat which converts to provide an additional double berth, a Morso squirrel stove, two different size demountable tables and storage provided by a couple of cupboards and shelves. There is also plenty of room in here for a couple of captains style chairs or even a small sofa.
Next comes the galley which is a walk through style and again very spacious being 11’ 6” in length. The worktops are black patterned composite. The cooking facilities are provided by the Newworld 4 burner gas hob, oven and grill. The 12v LEC fridge was new in 2019 and this sits under the worktops next to the Indesit washing machine. There is loads of storage with a total of nine good size cupboards and a couple of drawers! A side hatch (with fly screen) lets in plenty of light and air.
The bathroom is off corridor on the starboard side with an extendable shower hose over the hip bath, the Thetford cassette loo and a ceramic basin over a large cupboard.
The fixed 4’ x 6’6” double berth sits in the 11 foot stern cabin. There is plenty of storage at the base of the bed with three cupboards, a set of four drawers and storage space under the bed. Steps lead up to the semi-trad deck with the Beta 43 engine (with hospital silencer) easily accessed underneath. With seats/lockers on both sides this is a good sociable area when cruising.
Heating is provided by the Morso squirrel stove, hot water from the engine or 1kw immersion heater. The three leisure batteries were new in 2019 and are all Pure Carbon. There is a 1600w Sterling inverter/charger, a 3kw petrol suitcase generator and 230w of solar. All lighting is LED and she also features an Axiom propeller (18 x 20) which was new in 2012. She has both a cratch cover and a pramhood.
There is really nothing to do with this boat other than to add personal touches to make her your lovely new home.
For a new life afloat, Thistle-Do nicely!
