| Narrow Boats: For Sale: UNIQUE NARROWBOAT MOORED BY LLANGOLLEN |

Welcome to our narrowboat "Tooting". Well known on the canal network, don’t be surprised if you hear passers-by humming the "Citizen Smith" theme tune or shouting "Power to the people!" as you glide by.
The boat was built by Branson boats and fitted-out by East Midlands Boat Services in 1991 as displayed by commerative brass plaque in the engine room. She was stretched to her current length of 55ft in 1999. Since we have owned her we have decorated extensively and added various creature comforts which are included with the sale (flat screen LCD TV, slow-cooker, cabin lights and a variety of kitchenware and utensils). When you are moored-up you can also enjoy the multi-region DVD player with surround-sound amplifier (very powerful). There is also a 12v free-to-air satellite decoder and dish, which I have yet to rig-up. You even get a very realistic cabin-height artificial tree! The boat has been re-painted from her original maroon colour to the current aqua blue and cream livery at a cost of around £4000.
She was surveyed in March 2009 (copy with sale) which included ultrasonic testing of the hull. The current Boat Safety Certificate (BSC) is valid until 2013.
She has a dual-voltage fridge with freezer compartment, a Vanette 4000/2 four burner hob and a Vanette GG 7000 built in oven/grill unit, and a 800Wmicrowave oven. Central heating is provided by a Morso solid fuel burning stove which feeds radiators in the fore cabin and aft bedroom (gets very toasty indeed). The boat has a 240V landline hookup and as a back-up heat source a floor-standing halogen heater is also included, as is a DeLonghi oil-filled radiator.
The engine was fully services before moving the boat in the autumn of last year from Northamptonshire to Chirk. During this twelve day voyage she never missed a beat. The engine is extremely reliable and fires up first time even in the ice and snow, which leads me to conclude the batteries are in sound condition. The alternator is fine and she charges well.
At 55ft she would make a great liveaboard, and it is especially nice to have a separate bedroom aft, which is both cosy and private. A "miracle foam" mattress was bought last year and is warrantied for five years. There is also a futon in the fore cabin which converts into a bed. The main cabin is open plan and there is plenty of liveaboard and storage space.
The engine is a 24HP Isuzu 3 cylinder water-cooled diesel which provides ample pulling power and she has a good sized prop. I have all the receipts for servicing and work carried out since last year.
She has new mooring ropes, a new chimney, mooring pegs and mallet, safety ring, pole and boat hook. A side-hatch opens on the starboard side which is particularly nice on balmy summer days. Just remember if you start feeding the ducks they won't leave you alone!
Subject to agreement with the Marina (I can’t see there would be any problem) the boat can remain moored at Chirk on the Llangollen canal – arguably one of the prettiest waterways in Britain. Chirk Marina on the beautiful Llangollen Canal is situated in the middle of the 11 mile canal corridor granted World Heritage status by UNESCO in July 2009, only the third site in Wales to achieve this status and putting it on an equal footing with such iconic structures as the Taj Mahal and Statue of Liberty. Take yourself for a "flight" over the famous Pontcysyllte aqueduct and down to Llangollen basin where you can moor overnight close to the town centre (the nice thing is there are no locks on this trip at all!). Sailing the other way, Ellesmere (with Tesco superstore on the canal) and Nantwich are all within easy reach.
Wireless Internet at the Marina reports a 3G signal on T-Mobile. Whilst speeds are not guaranteed (sometimes drops to 3-5 bars on 2G) I find it perfectly acceptable for routine Internet access. I actually found the Internet onboard to work out cheaper than home broadband, but you will need to check the various deals on offer.
If you chose to stay at Chirk Marina the current mooring fees are about £175 per month. Mooring is paid up til the end of March. This makes for pretty reasonable accomodation at one of the most desirable spots on the canals.
Basically Tooting is ready to sail away. Your dream boat could be waiting!
We have done a lot of work to Tooting and think you're getting a real bargain given the quality and fit out of this unique vessel. We will be sorry to see her go, but unfortunately ill-health forces sale.

IN SUMMARY:

Exact length 16.72 metres (54 feet 10 inches), Beam 2.09 metres (6 feet 10 inches), Draft 0.54 metres (1 feet 9 inches). Steel hull, power of 24HP. Engine is an Isuzu 3 cylinder water cooled diesel fitted with a Hurth 125 mechanical gearbox. Hull blacked with new anodes 2008. 4+ berth. A LPG system is installed. The boat has a 12 volt electric system for engine starting and domestic power and a 240 volt system using the land line. Hot water is provided by a calorifier heated by the engine, there is also a 240 volt immersion element fitted for use when attached to shore power. There is one starter battery and two domestic batteries which power a 300w inverter and various 12 volt wall sockets. The toilet is a pump-out (a lot more covenient than a porta loo, will last a couple about five weeks before it needs emptying) and there is a shower in the bathroom with extractor pump. First to see will buy!

Twoflower is a 53ft tug style narrowboat, so built in 1989 by TT Marine for maximum inside space.
Diesel powered with a fully serviced Coventry engine, Twoflower has enjoyed regular canal trips with its present (since 2006) and first owner. Two new marine batteries have been recently fitted and a very smart, new oak tiller. Twoflower is moored at Ice Wharf Residential Moorings, which enjoys the safest and highest standard of facilities in London, along with the friendly community. A boat safety certificate was completed last year, Jan 2008 and this will be due for renewal in Jan 2012. Dry Docked at Kings Cross in August 2008, Twoflower had four new anodes fixed and her bottom re-blacked for rust prevention. I have a full, independent survey available to view, that was completed in November 2009 by a potential buyer (who pulled out for personal reasons). The survey confirms that Twoflower has been well looked after but does recommend an engine service as I have not changed her oil since purchase.
Inside, Twoflower has a small oak kitchen with a gas cooker and a fully serviced water boiler providing piping hot water to a shower and mini bath. The most comfortable, bespoke double bed is fitted at the far end and kitchen at the other. With wood paneling throughout and newly refurbished windows, Twoflower is a comfortable and comparatively spacious boat with authentic, original features that add to her charm. There is the opportunity for a new owner to make it their own if they wanted to build in some separating walls for example. All furniture, a timed radiator, a useful habitat folding table, a humidifier and all the white kitchen goods are included in the sale.
