Two lovely and newly decorated 6’6 beam boats on a tranquil spot in a friendly community of boaters in West London, less than 15 minutes from Paddington!
‘WHITE RABBIT’ 36’ Cruiser Stern (1970s):
A bright and airy all steel original Springer. 2007 hull survey (out of water) showed hull very solid, blacking and new anodes fitted March 2007.
Highly attractive and spacious open plan boat (completely refurbished in 2008) containing newly fitted kitchen (including large ceramic Belfast double sink, new gas oven and hob, fridge, gas water boiler, solid oak work surface, storage and shelves), spacious living area, a solid fuel burner providing lots of heat, fitted shelves and oak wooden floor throughout.
Attractive 12v halogen spot lights run down length of boat and there are plenty of 240v sockets for everything you need.
Engine is a 3 cylinder sought-after Lister, however is not currently working and requires servicing.
‘SWEET TUESDAY’ 22’ Houseboat (1970s):
Pretty and cosy all steel houseboat. 2007 hull survey (out of water) showed hull very solid, blacking and new anodes fitted March 2007.
Oak floor throughout, comfortable bed recently built to fit boat, lots of storage and 240v sockets. We often see a pair of swans feeding outside the window in the morning – a fun sight to start the day!
Attractive bathroom containing bath with shower attachment, sink, large mirror, chemical toilet, storage and immersion heater providing lots of hot water.
THE GARDEN:
A 58ft well loved and neatly kept garden containing a terrace, patio, flower bed, herb garden, three sheds and mature trees. The garden is a haven for birds and other wildlife. The dock is also teaming with wildlife, including a resident heron, pair of mating swans and a family of ducks (with ducklings in the Spring!).
The three insulated sheds all have electricity and plug sockets and one has a BT phone line. We currently use one as a large office (see photo), one as a walk-in wardrobe and the other as storage.
MAYPOLE DOCK:
The secure dock has its own postal address and laundry room/post room, electric and mains water hook-up and is situated two minutes walk from local shops, post office, doctor's surgery and pharmacy.
Connections to central London are via Southall train station (10 mins walk) and takes 12-15 minutes. The closest tube is Osterley on the Piccadilly line. Ealing Broadway is a 5 minute train journey from Southall station for the Central and District lines.
Osterley Park is nearby as are two lovely pubs that serve excellent food. Just a walk down the towpath is Hanwell Flight of Locks and further down the canal is Kew Gardens.
There is communal free parking directly outside the dock, and a full size garage available to rent for £15pm.
These two boats have been our happy home and offer a peaceful, fun and comfortable home in London. They really are lovely boats and require no work before you move in.
They are also extremely economical and have been the perfect answer to buying property in London, especially in the current market.

Mooring: £350 month
These boats are in great condition, but any additional work done (e.g. servicing the engine) will easily and certainly add extra value to them, making them a great investment at this price. We would love to stay but our circumstances have taken us out of West London and we urgently need to sell.

General description
Front deck with large area for seats and gas locker.
Entrance to barge through double glazed double doors with four latch dead lock.
Front sun lounge containing full size settee-bed. Open storage unit above bed, with full under bed storage area. Pot belly stove and 1 radiator.
Hall way, with bathroom on left, containing 1200 x 800 shower with full height sliding door, power shower with body jets; basin and toilet set in a unit containing cupboards under the basin; full height corner mirrored corner wall cabinet; radiator and extractor.
Hall way with side storage for books or coats. Main bedroom on left with bed, under bed storage, hanging space and radiator
Hall way leading to kitchen, lounge and dining area. Kitchen area contains good cupboard space and three drawer set, fridge, grill, separate oven and four ring hob, stainless steel sink and drainer, tiled working surfaces and splash backs. Also, a multi fuel two hob oven stove. The main area houses a three-seat and two-seat leather suit. The rear area houses a large wrought iron glass-topped table and four dining chairs. There are two side doors at window height and one radiator.
The rear door leads to another storage area. The engine, hot water tank and battery bank are under the floor, with good access. Above deck, the WEBASTO central heating system is on the left, and the 3KW inverter with 240 volt fuse box is on the right; this also includes fuse box for 12 volt system, plus outside power hook-up. There is also a Whirlpool washing machine, fitted to the hot water supply, and cupboard areas.
The craft has just had a complete re-fit, including new radiators and pipe work; new floors in laminated Aqu-block throughout, and on the walls in some areas; complete new bathroom and kitchen. This barge is owned privately by Richard and Heather of Figurehead Barges and has just been repainted in dry dock - May 2009.
This is definitely the one you don’t want to miss: some barges are just that bit special.
The craft is moored on the Leeds Liverpool Canal at Adlington, close to good road and rail access for easy commuting. There is also easy access for ‘lift out’ if you want to relocate or move. The mooring is included in the price of the barge. this costs £12 per week.

nb Cilantro is a 60(59' 6" to be precise) foot narrowboat painted in traditional colours. She can sleep 4 people, 2 in a fixed 6' x 6' cross boat double bed and 2 on a dinnette that converts to a double. She is fiited with a Beta Marine 43 Green Line engine which was new in 2007. The boat is based on a John White shell and was fitted out in diagonal tongue and groove by North West Narrowboats in 1995. A Sterling 2500 pure sine wave inverter/charger provides 240 volts from the domestic batteries and also charges them when connected to shore power. 12 volt power is supplied from 4x100 Ah domestic batteries and there is a 90 Ah starter battery. A compact washing machine, a 12volt domestic size fridge and a vannette gas cooker are also fitted. The shower room also houses a porta potti but there is a pump out toilet system which can easily be re-connected. She is currently moored in Skipton in North Yorkshire and moorings may be available with the consent of the boatyard owners. There will be more photos placed in the near future. Thanks for looking |
